UGHELLI/Nigeria: As activities towards the January 6, 2018 local government election enters top gear, the Patron of Team Ibori for Okowa 2019, Mr. Innocent Iyede, on Wednesday held a strategic meeting with Ughelli North Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship candidate, Godwin Adode, his Vice and Councillorship candidates of Ughelli North constituency I.
The strategic meeting, which took place at his country home in Orogun, among other issues, unearthed strategies to give a knockout blow to opposition parties in the constituency.
According to Mr. Iyede, PDP’s victory in the forthcoming election is paramount, hence party leaders and members must be on their toes in their various units, wards and local government areas.
He admonished the PDP candidates not to go to sleep in the belief of the party’s grassroot consolidated support but urged them to work harder since politics is like a game of football that is not over until it is over.
The front line aspirant for the Ughelli North Constituency I seat in the Delta State House of Assembly encouraged the candidates with financial assistance and promised to partner with them to ensure the party’s victory in the area.
Mr. Iyede, who referred to his gesture as a token considering the cost of running elections in Nigeria, said it was meant to encourage them and affirm his support for their 2018 project.
He stated that Mr. Godwin Adode’s administration, when voted into power, will be a more youth-friendly dispensation as a youth friendly figure and described him as a chairman of the youths.
Mr. Godwin Adode, who appreciated Mr. Iyede’s gesture on behalf of the candidates, said his gesture is a big challenge to others to emulate, and urged him to continue his good work in the constituency which he described as a face-lift.
The Ughelli North constituency I candidates led by the Chairmanship candidate include: Victor Uyo- Vice chairmanship candidate, Chief A. F. Oki-Orogun ward 3/7, Ochuko Adjemuare-Orogun ward 1/5, Felix O. Oderhowho-Orogun ward 4/8, Chief Ese Osawota Orogun ward 2/6, Anthonia Imoniwherha-Orogun ward 5/9,.
Others include Otega Asore-Ogor ward 1, Rachael Idowan-Ogor ward 2, Sam Felix Otobore Agbarha ward 2, Chief Joseph Mudjere -Agbarha ward 1, Odemo Obukadeta- Evwreni ward 1.
