Ughere Endorses Dafinone for Second Term, Cites Youth Opportunities

Senator Ede Dafinone

UGHELLI/Nigeria: President of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Youth Wing, Ughere Blessing, has endorsed Senator Ede Dafinone for a second term, citing the senator’s accessibility and what he described as interventions that have opened opportunities for Urhobo youths.

Ughere made his position known in a statement published on his official Facebook page, where he urged Urhobo youths to support Dafinone’s bid to retain his seat in the Senate.

He pointed to the participation of 20 Urhobo youths in the ongoing Niger Delta Community Development Board (NCDMB) Media and Communication Training as an example of what he described as Dafinone’s responsiveness to requests from constituents.

Ughere said he approached Dafinone after learning about the training programme in September last year and appealed for opportunities for Urhobo youths.

“I reached out to him immediately. Without hesitation, he contacted the Board, and within two days, I was asked to submit 20 names for the training,” he said.

According to Ughere, the 20 nominees are currently participating in the programme and have been performing well.

He described the intervention as one of several opportunities he said Dafinone had facilitated for Urhobo youths, arguing that political support should be based on what elected representatives deliver to their constituents.

“Beyond words, Senator Ede Dafinone has consistently shown that he is a leader who listens and acts,” Ughere said.

He also commended Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori alongside Dafinone for what he described as their responsiveness to the aspirations of the Urhobo people.

Ughere said the experience of the 20 trainees demonstrated the potential impact of connecting young people with skills-development opportunities, adding that such interventions could have longer-term benefits beyond the immediate training.

“The opportunity you gave these 20 youths is an investment in their skills, confidence, and future. May God continue to strengthen you,” he said.

The UPU Youth Wing president argued that continuity in political representation would allow Dafinone to build on initiatives already undertaken during his current tenure.

He consequently called on Urhobo youths to support the senator’s re-election bid.

“For this reason, Urhobo youths must rally around Senator Ede Dafinone and support him to complete all that he has started,” Ughere said.

He concluded by reaffirming his personal support for Dafinone’s second-term bid, describing the senator as a representative who had demonstrated willingness to respond to requests from his constituents.

“Therefore, I endorse him and I support him for a second term,” Ughere declared.
