OKPANAM/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has described his late personal assistant on Culture and Traditions, Chief Simeon Amobi Okonkwo as a man of uncommon humility.
Ukah, who made the description in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state during the burial ceremony of the deceased, said that late Chief Amobi Okonkwo’s way of life was worthy of emulation.
The Basic and Secondary Education Commissioner, stated that the deceased displayed effective service delivery, not only to him, as his personal assistant, but contributed modestly towards the sustenance of the culture and traditions of the area at large.
He stated that the deceased always gave him result and ensured that he succeeded in his traditional activities in the community notwithstanding his oldage .
While urging the deceased family, particularly his children to take solace in the fact that late Okonkwo lived a fulfilled life, Mr. Ukah stressed the need for his children to sustain his legacies.
He noted that the death of his personal assistant on culture and traditions had created vacuum not only in the family but to him, adding that he was pained by his demise.
Ukah, who, however, described death as inevitable end to the existence of humanity, said that it was important for every individual to live a good life , just as he stated that one should always touch lives no matter how little that could be.
Speaking to newsmen, a younger brother to the deceased, Chief Patrick Okonkwo (Pato), commended the Basic and Secondary Education Commissioner for his continued support to the Okonkwo’s family and Okpanam community in particular, saying that his elder brother impacted positively in his life and the family at large.
