OKPANAM/Nigeria: The Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah has described the Permanent Secretary, Post Primary Education Board (PPEB), Mr. Augustine Chukwuma as a quintessential and thorough bred administrator.
Chief Ukah, who stated this at Onicha-Ukwuani in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the State, said that his contributions to the State Government and Civil Service in particular was quite inspiring and commendable.
The SSG, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Office of the SSG, Mr. Felix Ideh spoke to journalists during the 16th remembrance of the mother of the PS, late Mrs. Maria Chukwuma.
He said that Mr. Chukwuma was one of the dependable and reliable Principals in public secondary schools before his appointment as Permanent Secretary by the State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa.
In their separate remarks, a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Delta State Governor, Dr. Godwin Edozie and the Principal of West End Mixed Secondary School, Mrs. Augusta Ogeah stated that his efforts in stabilising the education sector was worthy of emulation.
Dr. Edozie and Mrs. Ogeah opined that it was a good thing for one to recognise one’s parents by organising remembrance for them, especially in acknowledgement of their positive impacts to the children.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen, Mr. Chukwuma said that his mother was a rare disciplinarian who strived at all cost to give the children formal education, stressing that his mother played key role in their foundation.
Mr. Chukwuma, who used the opportunity to thank the State Governor for appointing him as Permanent Secretary in the State Civil Service, advised civil servants to always put in their best in their jobs just as he said that there was reward in hardwork.
He also appreciated the chairman, members and staff of Post Primary Education Board for their supports, saying that they had in several ways made his work easier.
The event was attended by the State Head of Service, Mr. Reinald Bayoko and his wife, the Chairman of Post Primary Education Board, Chief Mrs. Christiana Etaluku, the immediate past Commissioner for Primary Education, Mr. Chika Ossai and the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comr. Titus Okotie among other stakeholders in the education sector.
