ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has described late Ogbueshi Stephen Okolo, father of one of his political aides, Comrade Lucky Okolo, as a quintessential community leader who lived a good life.
Mr. Ukah, who stated this in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area, during the burial ceremony of the deceased, said that he had contributed in no small measures in midwifing the peace and unity existing among the people of Ogbeosadi village by carrying them along in the scheme of things.
The Basic and Secondary Education Commissioner urged the children of late Ogbueshi Stephen Okolo to emulate and sustain his legacies, adding that it was always gratifying to put the interest of the people above personal gains.
While praying God to guide and protect the wife and children of the deceased as well as strengthen them with the heart to bear the loss, Mr. Ukah particularly described his aide, Comrade Lucky Okolo, as an outstanding supporter of his activities.
In their separate remarks, some children of the deceased including Engr. Charles Okolo, Sir. John Okolo, Mrs. Ada Ogbechie and Comrade Lucky Okolo described their father as a man that spoke the truth at all times and stood against unjust treatment as well as ensured that equity reigned in the community.
Comrade Lucky Okolo particularly commended the Commissioner and his Ogbeosadi kingsmen for their support, adding that they would build on the achievements of their father.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Felix Ideh, and Ogbueshi Sunday Nwanze said that the deceased lived a life worthy of emulation.
Earlier in his sermon, Assistant Parish Priest of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Okpanam, Rev. Fr. Dennis Onochie, said that the deceased was a committed Christian and advised all to serve God with all sincerity just as he described late Stephen Okolo as one of the uncommon individuals that have the interest of others at heart .
