OKPANAM/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education and the Akatakpo Enyi 1 of Okpanam Kingdom, Patrick Ukah, has expressed optimism that the reign of his uncle, William Ukah, as the Diokpa-Isi (oldest man) in Umuomake village will leave behind endearing legacies in the village.
Mr Ukah stated this in his country home in Okpanam yesterday during the ascension ceremony of William Ukah to the position of the Diokpa-Isi of Umuomake village.
Personalities who attended occasion included the State Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Tilije, former Commissioner for Urban Renewal, Mr Karo Ilolo, the Delta North Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Hon. Moses Iduh and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Felinco Motors, Chief Felix Okafor, among others.
While saying that old age was an act of God’s benevolence, Ukah described the celebrant as an uncommon asset to the village and solicited the unflinching support of the people of the community, especially his subjects to enable him succeed in his new position of leadership.
The Akatakpo Enyi 1 of Okpanam Kingdom appreciated the people for identifying with his family and prayed God to give his uncle the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the village.
In his remarks, Delta State Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Tilije, said that it was a thing of joy to identify with one of their own, Patrick Ukah, on the occasion of his uncle’s Diokpa-Isi ceremony, just as he described Patrick Ukah as one of the pillars of the present administration.
Sir Tilije stressed the need for the people of the community to rally round the celebrant and wished him God’s guidance and protection.
Earlier, the celebrant, William Ukah, attributed his success in life as well as his longevity to God and urged the people to live together in peace and unity.
He assured his subjects that he would operate an open-door policy and carry his people along in the scheme of things.
