OKPANAM/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has admonished the people of Amachai community in Okpanam to give the needed support to their newly elected and sworn in Executive members of Amachai Youths Association.
Mr. Ukah, who gave the advice in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state during the swearing-in and presentation of certificates of return to the Chairman of the association, Comrade Onwudinjo Emmanuel Agala, Comrade Onyeka Ogbechie (Secretary) and Comrade Hycenth Lotobi (Treasurer), by the Diokpa-Isi of Amachai community, said that now that elections were over , there was need for the people to work together to move the community forward.
The Basic and Secondary Education Commissioner, who was represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, Hon. Innocent Uchibuolu, noted that it was only in a peaceful environment that meaningful development could thrive in any society.
Earlier in his goodwill message, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Waterways and Land Security, Hon. Chibeze Pino Aniemeka, commended the newly sworn in executives of Amachai Youths Association for the success in the election, and described Comrade Agala as a committed and focused individual, just as he enjoined the EXCO members to carry everybody along in the scheme of things.
In his inaugural speech, Chairman of Amachai Youths Association, Comrade Onwudinjo Emmanuel Agala, who lauded the elders, women and youths in the community for identifying him during and after the elections, pledged to operate an open door policy.
He said that his administration would focus on the implementation of several developmental initiatives such as offering of scholarships to indigenes of Amachai, empowerment for the youths as well building a befitting town hall among others, adding that the association under his watch would sustain the gains recorded so far.
Presenting certificates of return to them, the Diokpa-Isi of Amachai, Ogbueshi Mathias Okolie who was represented by diokpa Raymond Eguogwu, urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by ensuring that they brought development to the community, stressing that the people would continue to support them.
In an interview with journalists, some indigenes of the community including the Director-General of Agala Campaign Organisation, Comrade Chukwudi Odeh, the Chairman of the inauguration Planning Committee, Comrade Eziafa Odeh and Comrade Joseph Ogbechie described the newly sworn executives as individuals of impeccable character just as they maintained that they had been contributing their quota towards the development of Amachai community even before their election.
