Chief Patrick Ukah, Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Chief Patrick Ukah, has warned principals and head teachers of public schools in the state to shun collection of unapproved fees from pupils and students who are registering for the various certificate examinations.
Chief Ukah, who gave the warning in a statement in Asaba, said that the only approved fees for the registration for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) was N16, 950.00 (sixteen thousand nine hundred and fifty naira) while that of the National Examination Council (NECO) was N14,500.00 (fourteen thousand and fifty naira).
The commissioner added that registration for the Cognitive/Placement examination and Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) were free of charge for candidates in Public Primary and Secondary Schools.
He particularly stated that the sum of two thousand six hundred naira and one thousand two hundred naira respectively were the only approved fees to be collected from repeaters for the Basic Examination Certificate Examination and Cognitive /Placement examinations.
