EFFURUN/Nigeria: The President General of Uvwie General Improvement Union (UGIU) Chief Austin Ukuwrere has commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over road construction and rehabilitation in the state.
Ukuwrere who is a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Okowa on Community Development, made the commendation in an interview with correspondents at his office in Effurun.
Some of the roads he mentioned in his words of commendation include: the ongoing Asaba/ Ughelli Road, Iteregbi/Ugbomro, Alegbo/ Ugbolokposo Road and Old Ovie Palace Road and DSC Roundabouts by Ebrumede in Uvwie Local Government Area.
Ukuwrere who remarked that all the road projects he mentioned were all quality jobs, declared: “We have never had it so good since the creation of Delta State. He (Governor Okowa) is truly the ‘Road Master’.
He explained that the media chat was necessitated by the fact that Uvwie Kingdom of which is his the President General, was a beneficiary of Governor Okowa’s goodness in road construction and rehabilitation.
“If we may recall, the Iteregbi/ Ugbomro Road project was abandoned by previous administrations inspite of several appeals from us. But when Governor Okowa came on board, he made a promise and kept to his words in his first tenure.
“I am using this medium to thank him for the construction of the Iteregbi/ Ugbomro Road, other roads I mentioned earlier and for other good things he has done for Uvwie Kingdom in terms of appointments and contributions to Abe 1 Scholarship Scheme,” he stated.
He then urged Uvwie people to join other good Deltans in supporting Governor Okowa’s agenda of building a stronger Delta State.
