OBIARUKU/Nigeria: The Chairman, Ukwuani local government, Ogbuefi Chukwudi Dafe have sworn-in four supervisory councilors with a charge to contribute their invaluable quotas to help move the local government forward.
The supervisors sworn-in are; Hon (Comr.) Uwabuofu Chika Robert (Supervisor for Education, Youths and Sports/Community Development); Hon (Chief) Gilbert Ejede (Supervisor for Health and Environment); Hon (Comr.) Azaka Fidelis (Supervisor for Agriculture and Natural Resources) and Hon Onyenwosa Don Paul (Supervisor for Works and Infrastructure).
While swearing in the supervisors, Ogbuefi Chukwudi stated that it was a new dawn in Ukwuani as vibrant youths were picked not as recommended by any Godfather, Godmother, party hierarchy but because of their hard work and leadership potentials.
According to him, “it is a new dawn in Ukwuani local government; I am handing over to the young generation because I am preparing quality young minds and I believe that they will take over from us soonest! Let me add that, before now we have not actually been working but since we now have supervisors we can now swing into action in all directions to move the council forward,” he said.
The Odogwu of Ukwuani also noted that the appointment of the supervisors was without any external influence. “It is important for me to state here that, the appointment of the supervisors was not influenced by any Godfather, Godmother or anybody anywhere. As a matter of fact, it is their diligence and hard work that singled them out for the position,” he added.
Responding, the supervisor for Health and Environment, Hon (Chief) Gilbert Ejede thanked the council on their appointment and subsequent swearing in even as he assured the chairman that they will work in tandem with his workable visions for the good people of Ukwuani LGA.
