AGBOR/Nigeria: The Chairman of the Post Primary Education Board (PPEB) Mrs Christiana Utaluku has charged the Teachers in Delta State to adopt the use of the various teaching methodologies as they have been taught, for effective teaching and learning process.
The PPEB Chairman also admonished the Teachers while declaring open the ongoing training programme of Secondary and Technical College Teachers on “Pedagogical Skills and Strategies” at Delta State Government House Annex, Warri South Local Government Area to put in their best in the teaching profession.
Mrs Etaluku quickly reiterated the relevance of Teachers in the society stressing that ” teachers are the bedrock of devolvement.”
She enjoined them to obtain the Teachers Registration Council Certificate (TRCN) in other to be acknowledged as professional Teachers.
While speaking, the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Delta State Chapter, Mr Titus Okotie, commended the governor of Delta State Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for creating the Teachers Professional Development Centre (TPDC) as a platform for training and retraining teachers for competence.
The NUT chairman added that teachers were builders of nation, stressing that the need to train and retain them was paramount in other to be abreast with the recent teaching methodologies.
Earlier, the Director General/ Coordinator of the TPDC, Dr.Anthony Dibashi, pointed out that the government of Delta State has been able to cover the three senatorial districts in terms of training of the teachers since the year began.
He added that the training programme was continuous and would involve the training of all the teachers in the state in the course of time.
