Be Good Ambassadors Of Delta, Gov Okowa Tells Christian Pilgrims

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Government has charged Christian Pilgrims going for this year’s pilgrimage in the Holy Land, not only to pray for God’s intervention in restoring peace and stability in Nigeria, but to be good ambassadors of the state.

The State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, gave the charge at the Government House, Asaba, while addressing the state Christian Pilgrims who were going on Holy pilgrimage to Jordan.

Governor Okowa explained that pilgrimage to the Holy Land was not a holiday or a jamboree, but an exercise to uplift ones spiritually and so should be taken seriously.

He also said that Christians embarked on pilgrimage to the places associated with the Lord’s Passion, death and resurrection to strengthen their spiritual being with the Apostle’s witness of faith and love.

He said that on their return from the pilgrimage, they should be able to lead a life that would mirror that of Jesus Christ in all ramifications.

Governor Okowa reflected on the history and traditions of pilgrimages, especially to the holy sites relevant to the New Testament narratives of the life and the Ministry of Jesus Christ and urged the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the state and Nigeria.

The Chairman of the State Christian Pilgrims Board and Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, Senior Apostle Sylvanus Okorote, assured the state governor that the pilgrims would be good ambassadors of the state and thanked him for the usual support that he had been giving to the Christian Pilgrims Board.
