In what looks like an American presence in Delta State , the United States Government Exchange Alumni Association ( USGEAAN ) Nigeria inaugurated its executive members, at the Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat, in Asaba.
Delivering her speech at the event, ,the honorable commissioner for women affair, Barr. Pat Ajudua ,, who was represented by the permanent secretary , Mrs Agas , said , it’s good to see a community of youth that has been impacted , trying to impact others , adding that the organization has come a long way , having 14,000 members in Nigeria .
Barr.. Ajudua further stated that , empowerment and leadership is not just about giving money , food and other humanitarian things , but to also impact and inform others , about what leadership is all about and how we can become good leaders and ambassadors .
Also speaking , the honorable commissioner for science and technology , Hon . Odinigie Odigwe , who was also represented by a director in the ministry, , Mrs Nkechi Chukwura , said , having the organization in Delta State , is like haveing American Presence in the State , saying that his ministry is ready and willing to collaborate with the organization .
Meanwhile , the Acting Public Affairs Commissioner , at the US consulate in Lagos, Mrs. Amanda Roach Brown , was all thanks to the various participating ministries at the inauguration , saying that the community has a membership of oner 40 thousand in Nigeria , adding that Delta State is now one of them .
She highlighted the various objectives of the organization , which include , sharing and impacting of knowledge , fostering relationship , mutual understanding , exchange of culture and education and many more . She therefore congratulated the newly inaugurated members .
The Exco members were then inaugurated by the National President , Dr. Nosayaba Tukura , who said that the national executive members ., remains fully committed to advancing the corporate mission of USGEAAN in Delta State .
Those Inaugurated were , Testimony Asiagwu ,as pioneer coordinator , Daniel Oluwole, as general secretary , Oluchi Uchegbu, as Public relations officer , Catherine Uwaya , as programmes coordinator , and Perculiar Okafor, as treasurer
Responding , the State Coordinator , Testimony Asiagwu , thanked USGEAAN for choosing them worthy to serve and impact , adding that he and his team will build an active and vibrant community that drives impact in , education , youth empowerment , knowledge , civic engagement , innovation and others
