Vaccination Against Rabies, PPR Commences In Delta May 14

ASABA/Nigeria: The State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will on Monday May 14, 2018 commence mass vaccination against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR)

According to a statement signed by the State Director of Information, Mr Paul Osahor, the Peste des Petits Ruminants, also known as “Kata” which presents symptoms such as ‘running nose’, diarrhea, and death in animals will involved the vaccination of goats and sheep as well as against Rabies in dogs which is a highly zoonotic disease of dogs and man that is presents with sudden change in behaviour and aggression.

The statement added that the vaccination will take place in all Government Veterinary Clinics and Rural Communities across the State.

Accordingly, owners of dogs, goats and sheep in Delta State are by this announcement advised to take advantage of this important exercise to vaccinate their animals against rabies at any Government Veterinary Clinic nearest to them.

Members of the public particularly owners of goats, dogs and sheep, the statement notes, are advised to call these numbers 09039978489, 08037272482 or visit the nearest Government Veterinary Clinic for assistance, saying that the Vaccination exercise will end on Saturday June 30, 2018.
