ASABA/Nigeria: The Director General (DG) of the Delta State Orientation Bureau, Eugene Azuka Uzum Esq, has enjoined stakeholders in communities of the state to take responsibility of curbing the menace of vandalization of public infrastructure.
Uzum stated this in the regular weekly radio programme, tagged “Prosperity for all Deltans- how e be for your area” at the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) in Asaba, the state capital.
According to the DG, who spoke through his personal aide, Amb. Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole, “public properties are for the people for the use of the people, so there’s the need to take ownership of them.”
He added that there should be security awareness by the communities to safeguard the amenities given to them by the government.
Uzum called on stakeholders, including traditional rulers, chiefs, community youth leaders, market leaders and teachers, among others, to take responsibility in inculcating the right morals in the youths towards the protection of public infrastructures in the state.
He added that wilful destroying of public infrastructures was a serious disservice and an unpatriotic act that would not only affect the destroyer and his community on the long run, but would cost the state government more in replacing such vandalised amenities in the state.
