Victims of Fire Incident in Delta Receives Cash from Council Boss

WARRI/Nigeria: Reprieve came the way of victims of Ajamimogha and Igbudu fire incident as the Warri South Local Government Chairman donated cash to them.

The donation was in fulfilment of the pledge made by the chairman when he visited the victims shortly after the fire incident occurred in January and July this year.

While presenting the cash to the victims at Ajamimogha community, Dr Michael Tidi urged the beneficiaries to effectively utilize the money saying the donation was not compensation but a support to ameliorate their plight.

The Councillor representing Ajamimogha Ward, Hon Philip Awani, while responding expressed his appreciation to the chairman for the donation, saying “The chairman is truly a man of his word, who has the welfare of the people at heart.”

Mrs Joy Eligbogibo responding on behalf of the fire victims in Ajamimogha community thanked and prayed for the chairman, saying that the money would be put to good use.

In the same vein, Dr Tidi made donation to the fire victim of Igbudu community, Mrs Alice Moses, who lost her grandchildren to the incident.

The chairman, while speaking in his office charged them to take preventive measures in order to prevent a recurrence of fire outbreak, advising that they should be using lamps instead of candles and building block houses instead of wooden structures.

The Youth President of Igbudu Community, Mr Ogheneovo Oyiboaga, expressed   appreciation to the chairman for gestures towards the victims which he said was swift, saying it epitomized Dr Tidi’s as a credible and reliable leader who promises and delivers.

Responding on behalf of the victim, Mrs Maureen Okene,   sister to mama Alice Moses, thanked the chairman for his swift response in fulfillment of his pledge to them.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of the cash donations to the victims.
