ASABA/Nigeria: In continuation of the sensitization exercise on voter registration programme by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nationwide, the Delta State Directorate of Orientation, Governor’s office have taking the campaign to major markets in Sapele, Warri, Ethiope West and Ethiope East local Government Areas of Delta state.
At the Sapele main market, traders, young and old were addressed by Executive Assistant to the Governor, Directorate of Orientation, Mr Eugene Azuka Uzum. Who was who represented the sensitization team leader and State Director of Orientation, Mrs Stella Macaulay.
Mr Uzum told the market women and men that registering and having one’s Permanent Voter Card (PVC) was not limited to election purposes but that the PVC was also a means of identification as the owners personal details were contained in it.
She urged persons who have just attained 18 years to also visit the nearest INEC office to register for their PVCs.
At Jesse market, the traders were visibly excited as the team of Orientation Officers converged on the square to sensitize market women and men on the importance of having PVC.
The market coordinator, Mrs Aghwarekokor led the team round the Jesse expansive market to sensitize the traders on their civic responsibility to register and obtain their PVCs.
Market visited on Tuesday and Wednesday included Abraham and Eku markets in Ethiope East LGA; Oghara, Mosogar and Jesse markets in Ethiope West LGA; and Koko Garrage, Okirigwhe; Sapele main market in Sapele LGA.
Ogberikoko market in Uvwie LGA; Okere, Igbudu, Polokor markets in Warri South LGA; and Koko market in Warri north LGA.
