EFFURUN/Nigeria: A major campaign to tackle gender-based violence (GBV) is gaining momentum in Warri as the Value Rebirth and Empowerment Initiative (VREI), in collaboration with the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) and with support from the Ford Foundation, announces a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop under the Male Feminist Network (MFN) project.
The workshop is scheduled to take place at Casa De Pedro Hotel, Warri, Delta State, with participants arriving on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Training sessions will hold on Friday and Saturday, November 7–8, 2025, with departures on the final day.
According to the organisers, participants nominated by VREI will be equipped with practical tools and strategies to prevent GBV, promote feminist values, and advance gender justice built on fairness, equality, and the rule of law within their communities.
VREI explained that the ToT will focus on engaging men as key advocates and facilitators in the fight against GBV—training them to identify warning signs, de-escalate potentially violent situations, and provide appropriate referrals for survivors while promoting accountability at the community level.
Graduates of the training are expected to conduct step-down sessions for groups of men in their respective communities, institutions, and networks, thereby expanding the Male Feminist Network’s reach across the South-South region and deepening grassroots advocacy against gender-based violence.
