Warri, Effurun Environs Bemoan Week Long Power Outage

WARRI/Nigeria: Major areas in Warri, Effurun and environs have been without electricity for over a week.

Areas mostly affected are Okumagba Avenue, Igbori , Agbassa and Otor- Orere amongst others, while other areas in the twin cities are affected by epileptic power supply.

Commenting on the situation, the President of Okere Development Movement, Comrade Cyril Eboh, expressed disappointment saying: “This was not what was promised us by government. The one week power outage has caused a lot of discomfort and untold hardship to the masses who cannot afford electricity sets .This is unfair to the suffering masses”

A civil servant, with Delta State Government in Uvwie Local Government Council who pleaded anonymity in her reaction, described the situation as disheartening, adding: “There has never been stable power in Effurun and Warri. This has discouraged investors from coming to invest in Effurun and Warri. “Besides, the end consumers are the ones that bear the cost of the goods produced by the manufacturers. And civil servants are the worst for it due to our fixed salaries.”

She called on the Federal Government to do something urgently to save the situation.

Staff of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) who were approached for comment, refused to disclosed their identity but stated that they were working on it, assured that power would be restored soon.
