WARRI/Nigeria: The Warri South Local Government Council Chairman, Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, has expressed strong support for investment initiatives aimed at modernizing local infrastructure and boosting economic activity.
Speaking during a meeting with Delta State Commissioner for Trade and Investments, Mr. Samuel Oligida, and the Chairman of DEL TRAZI Limited, Engineer Chukwuma Ezeani, Agbateyiniro commended the proposed projects, including the development of two modern abattoirs and cold rooms at Pessu Market in Warri.
Agbateyiniro highlighted the council’s ongoing efforts to attract investors under the MORE Grace Agenda, emphasizing the strategic importance of connecting a rail line between Warri Port and Aladja to alleviate traffic congestion in Lagos.
He revealed that discussions with potential investors were at an advanced stage, and the council is committed to creating an enabling environment for further investment opportunities. He said, “In line with our MORE Grace Agenda, we set up an investment committee, and very early this morning, the chairman of the committee was in Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, for a meeting with some of our potential investors that we hope will help us to connect a rail-line between Warri Port and Aladja, in order to see how we can reduce the traffic going to Lagos on the basis of importation.”
The Delta State Commissioner for Trade and Investments, Mr. Oligida, during his visit, laid the foundation stone for the market expansion project at Pessu Market. He confirmed that the project would include the construction of modern abattoirs and cold rooms, a move expected to elevate the market to meet international standards.
Engineer Ezeani, whose company DEL TRAZI Limited is spearheading the market expansion, outlined the vision for the project, stressing the importance of creating bankable environments in local markets. He noted that DEL TRAZI’s approach includes not only physical infrastructure development but also financial empowerment for traders through a mortgage system. This system aims to ensure that at least 70% of the beneficiaries are actual traders, with provisions made for other stakeholders.
Agbateyiniro affirmed the council’s commitment to partnering with DEL TRAZI Limited in various real estate and infrastructure projects, reflecting the administration’s broader agenda to drive grassroots development. The foundation stone laying ceremony marked a significant milestone in the project, signaling the start of a new phase of development for Warri South’s marketplace.
