By Elohor Foghola
WARRI/Nigeria: The Supervisor for Environment, Comrade Omawumi Elete, has assured residents of Warri South Local Government Area of his commitment to sustaining and improving the environmental standards of Warri, despite the poor level of compliance by residents.

He stated this today when he monitored the activities of the Warri South Local Environment Health Department in Warri
He said that oil bunkering and the continuous indiscriminate disposal of refuse by residents are the greatest menaces to the Local government’s Environment Department.
On the Flooding Currently being experienced in most parts of the Niger delta, he stated that we are lucky in Warri, due to efforts by various arms and agencies of government and our distinct tidal cycles which is the periodic rising and falling of the tide. This has made us not to be currently listed among the Flood Disaster zones.
Omawumi, advised residents to ensure they dispose of their waste properly and those living or blocking water channels  and  canals to  relocate as the Warri South Local Government Council will be Partnering with the  relevant agencies of government to  enforce  safe  environment  practices in Warri
