WARRI/Nigeria: The Chairman Warri South Local Government Council, Dr Michael Tidi, has pledged his willing to collaborate with the Nigerian Legion Corps of Nigeria Commissionaire to take full advantage of their presence in the local government.
Dr Tidi gave the pledge when members of Nigerian Legion Corps of Nigeria Commissionaire, Delta State Command paid him a courtesy call today at the council secretariat in GRA, Warri.
The chairman stated that the LGA is willing to partner with them in providing security not only during environmental sanitation and security in schools but also during elections and in area of agriculture.
He commended the corps for caring for the relatives of the fallen heroes, noting that anything honour given to them would not equal the sacrifice they paid the keep the nation united.
The Corps Commander, Mr Olusegun Wuraola while speaking during the visit said “The Nigerian legion corps of Nigerian Commissionaire was established in 1978 to cater for the welfare of ex- servicemen and persons who have distinguished themselves in the wars in which Nigeria participated.”
He further stated that the corps had embarked on several empowerment programs in Delta state such as providing sewing machines to widows of fallen heroes among many others.
The commander called on the council to partner with the command in areas of providing security in schools, during environmental sanitation and in aspects of agriculture.
Explaining further, the Deputy Corps Commander, Roland Jumbo, appealed to the chairman to assist in the documentation of the legions transport vehicles that operate within the LGA
Others in attendance during the visit included the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon Divine Iniovosa, the Secretary, Hon. Joseph Oribioye, a Deputy Corps Commander, Mr Augustine Okugba.
Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of souvenir to the chairman, Dr Tidi by the Corps Commander, Mr Olusegun Wuraola .
