JESSE/Nigeria: In a striking display of political realignment and consolidation of forces, Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has called on Deltans and Nigerians to remain committed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, assuring that the gains of the president’s bold economic reforms will soon begin to materialize.
Senator Dafinone made the call during a high-level All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ unity meeting held in Jesse, Ethiope West Local Government Area. The Senator applauded the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other Delta Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders to the APC, describing their entry as both “strategic and timely” for the growth and development of the state. “The alignment with the APC-led Federal Government is not just political — it’s developmental. It will fast-track federal appointments, projects, and resources to our people,” he declared.
Addressing misconceptions around the ongoing APC e-registration exercise, Dafinone dismissed suggestions of marginalization. “That’s a wicked lie,” he stated. “This registration is open to everyone, PDP, newcomers, and even APC members who haven’t registered before. In the new APC, everyone is equal.” He also stressed that unity between Ethiope East and West must be built on collaboration, not rivalry, promising a more inclusive and forward-driven party.
He commended President Tinubu’s tough economic decisions, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the exchange rate, noting that while Nigerians have experienced hardship, these measures were necessary and will yield positive results soon. “The reward for those hard decisions is near. Prosperity is coming, not just for Nigeria, but for Delta State and the Ethiope region,” he said.
Also speaking at the gathering, political leader Senator Ighoyota Amori expressed optimism about the 2027 elections, assuring party faithful of a seamless and united primary process. He was supported by party chieftains including Emmanuel Ighomena, Chief Anthony Akpomiemie, Rt. Hon. Halims Agoda, Chief Sunny Onoriode, Hon. Arthur Akpowhowo, and Chief Paulinus Akpeki. The meeting ended with a motion of confidence on President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, unanimously adopted by attendees, signaling a new era of unity and political direction for the APC in Delta State.
