Abuja: The president of Safe Abode For Everyone (SAFE), Ms Ika Christabel has reiterated the commitment of her newly launched NGO towards pioneering a struggle for a safer abode for all Nigerians.
The president who made the statement during a brief stakeholders meeting in Abuja, added that her desire and passion to effect change in the society is the driving force and motivational factor why she decided to take to advocacy.
According to her, she is moved to tears whenever she sees the living condition of some of our people, from the slums of the federal capital territory in Abuja to the creeks of the Niger Delta, the stories are the same.
She stated further that, there is need for private individuals to join hands with government in providing better living conditions for everyone, especially the children whom are the most vulnerable in situations like this.
“It’s disheartening when you see the kind of conditions some Nigerians live in, it’s so pathetic and unsafe to the extent that even if some of us are asked to stay there for only thirty minutes, we will never agree, yet some persons live like that all year round, and that was what necessitated myself and my team members to take it upon ourselves to advocate for a safer living for everyone”. She said.
“We will carry out outreaches, hold town hall meetings with stakeholders, organise seminars and talk shows to sensitise the general public on the need why a safer, better and healthy abode should be provided for everyone”, She added.
She rounded up by saying that she and her team will go round various state beginning from the Niger Delta to vigorously draw the attention of the world to the plight of the people in that region and she also hopes to have the various state governments, funders, multilateral agencies and well meaning Individuals support her in the cause.
