We Are Committed To Solving Challenges In State – Okowa

AKUMAZI-UMUOCHA/Nigeria: The Governor of Delta State and Vice-Presidential candidate of PDP, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa says the state government remains committed to solving the challenges in the state.

Governor Okowa gave the assurance during the 22nd Ogwa Ika and 18th Ikaka mma Annual Lecture organized by Onu Ika Nigeria at Akumazi-Umuocha in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to the Governor who was represented by the former speaker of the Delta State House Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Okonta, the state like every part of the country, is going through a lot of challenges. We will continue to employ measures to mitigate them.

“From the issue of herdsmen, illegal migration to high levels of insecurity, high-cost living among others, as a state, several policies and machinery have been put on the ground to tackle these challenges” he stated.

Speaking further, he commended the leadership and members of Onu Ika Nigeria for their contributions to the development of Ika land.

Earlier in his remarks, the head, of collective leadership of Onu Ika Nigeria, Mr. Daniel Usifoh said “our yearly meetings have always been the platform for us to meet as a people, also to brainstorm, x-ray the socio-economic and security situations of our communities”

“Let use this medium to appreciate Governor Okowa for addressing the challenges in the state”

“He heeded the call to tackle some of the issues head-on. Governor Okowa has continued to be one of the Governors who have taken the issue of irregular migration and anti-human trafficking seriously by sponsoring anti-human trafficking campaigns hand s always availed us of his presence at all Ogwa Ika. We thank you,” he stated.

Continuing, Mr. Usifoh condemned the quick syndrome among the youths.

“My sincere and elderly advice to youths is that you cannot eat your cake and have it at the same time, neither can you parachute into old age”, he said.

He also frowned at the rate at which educated Nigerian youths are migrating abroad.

The high point of the event was the launching of the book ‘Ika Cultural Ethos and Heritage written by Dr. Ferdinand Onyekpeze.
