We Don’t Need Foreign Help – Onyeama

ABUJA/Nigeria: The Minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, has declared that Nigeria do not need any form of foreign help to deal with the situation with IPOB describing it as an internal threat. This, he stated while speaking to Journalists at the UN Headquarters in New York.  He said IPOB is different from Boko Haram which captures territories and kills innocent people. He said the Boko Haram sect became an International threat when it pledged alliance to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“IPOB as of now, is an internal threat and Nigeria does not need international assistance to resolve it” “Boko Haram is not an internal threat. When the group pledged alliance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), it became an international threat.” On what can be the lasting solution to the IPOB crises, the minister said good living standard and quality of life  and that it is important that that they are not distracted from transforming the economy.

“If we can proide a good living standard and quality of life for our people, all these issues (Biafra agitation) will fall y the side. “that is why we must not be distracted from transforming the economy of our country. What I am saying is that we want to focus on the economy”.

On Friday, the Military headquarters has branded the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist organization.
