We failed in Our First Tenure, Our Second Tenure Will Be Fruitful, Osakwe

KWALE/Nigeria: The immediate past Chairman of Ndokwa West Local Government, Hon. Chris Ifeanyi Osakwe has apologised to the people and other residents for failing to meet up with their electioneering promises three years ago to the local government area, as he blamed it on the nationwide economic hardship that has rocked the country for the past two years.
Osakwe also noted that the recession was the major cause of the inability of his administration to fulfill all electoral campaign promises
he made.
He, however, asserted that when voted back to the council, “Our second tenure in office will be more fruitful.”
His apology was sequel to the unanimous adoption of his interest and expression to re-contest for the position of chairman of the local government by the local government and wards executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party secretariat in Kwale.
While thanking God for the success of the exercise, Hon. Osakwe confessed that his first three years in office was difficult as a result of the nationwide economic downturn.
He said that the experience was a great lesson and promised to be more sensitive to both the PDP family and the entire people of the area. “I plead mostly with the aggrieved persons to forgive and forget the past. They should bring their wealth of experience to Hon us move the local government forward,” he said.
He appealed to the forum to work with the PDP family and the people of the area to re-elect the incumbent state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in 2019 and assured that, with the recovering of the country from economic recession, coupled with the increase in oil price, the present state government will pay off all outstanding salaries for both political and non political staff of the council.
While expressing his gratitude to Ndokwa West PDP for his endorsement, he promised, “Let me assure the council staff and councillors that all outstanding salaries would be paid before 2019.”
Earlier, the PDP Returning Officer for the Mock Primary, Hon. Bino Owhede, who also is the Delta State PDP Youth Leader, expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of PDP leaders for the exercise, noting that their moral conduct showed that their decision was unanimous.
“Before I raise the hand of your consensus candidate, I want to ask the general house, do you have another aspirant or candidate?” At this point, there was uproar of Noooooh! He went on saying, “I hereby present Hon. Ifeanyi Osakwe to you as the PDP chairmanship candidate for the January 6, 2018, local council elections, he said.”
He requested the PDP in the area not to relent in sustaining the dominance of the party in the area.
