ASABA/Nigeria: Dr. Ebi Franklyn Waboke, a former Deputy Clerk of the Delta State House of Assembly and 2023 House of Representatives candidate under the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has described Senator Ned Nwoko as the most outstanding legislator in Delta State, declaring him “the only one working” while others remain silent since the 2023 elections.
In a strongly-worded public statement titled “We Need Ned Now”, Waboke praised Nwoko’s legislative activism, visibility, and delivery, contrasting it with what he called the “deafening silence” and lack of performance by other elected officials from Delta State.
“Senator Ned Nwoko is undoubtedly the Delta State Legislator of the Years: 2023–2025,” Waboke declared. “Two years after the elections, most of our legislators have gone silent. But one man has remained visible, vocal, and actively legislative: Senator Ned Nwoko. He speaks, he acts, and he delivers.”
Waboke decried what he called coordinated political attacks against the senator, alleging that Nwoko was being targeted for refusing to conform to corrupt political practices entrenched in the system. “It is this same man that enemies of progress now seek to bring down, because he refused to join the corrupt circle,” he said. “It is not strange: when you shine, the shadows grow jealous.”
The former assembly official went further to question the contributions of other legislators in Delta State, challenging citizens to reflect on the output of their elected representatives.
“Where are your councillors? Where are your House of Assembly members? Where are your House of Representatives members across the state? ” Waboke queried. “What bills have they sponsored? What motions have they moved? Where is their oversight work?”
According to him, Senator Nwoko’s performance stands in sharp contrast to the legislative dormancy that has become common across the state. “Ned Nwoko stands alone in performance, and they attack him for it,” he said. “But we see clearly. And we say it plainly: We Need Ned Now.”
Waboke’s remarks have triggered renewed public discourse around legislative accountability in Delta State. His assertion that Nwoko may be the most effective legislator the state has produced since 1999 has been met with both praise and debate in political circles.
Observers say the statement has amplified the conversation about the role of lawmakers in Nigeria’s democracy and the need for elected representatives to stay connected to their constituents through meaningful legislative work and community engagement.
