ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, is a stable and reliable politician who does not believe in defection from one political party to another to achieve his political objectives or key leadership positions in government.
Spokesperson of Delta PDP Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Barr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, made the assertion while speaking to newsmen at the official inauguration of Government House Press Centre in Asaba on Monday, saying that the M.O.R.E agenda of his principal, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, is the only viable and bankable manifesto that genuinely seek to advance the socioeconomic, infrastructure and human capital development of the state and citizens.
Oghenesivbe posited that Oborevwori is predictable in character, trustworthy, detribalized, meticulous and exhibits high level competence in dealing with issues relating to lawmaking, political engagements and good governance in general, adding that Delta State and citizens shall be better for it if the PDP Gubernatorial candidate is elected on March 18, as Okowa’s successor.
He further asserted that the enviable qualities of Oborevwori cannot be found in the governorship candidate of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who in time past defected from PDP to Labour Party and from Labour Party to APC; in obvious desperation to grab political power at all cost for selfish personal interests, as can be seen from his despotic and nepotic official conduct as Deputy Senate President.
Dr Latimore assured that the baseless hyper media attacks targeted at the performing governor of the state, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, and the PDP, goes to no issue because Delta youth; Obidient and Non Obidient, as well as majority of registered voters in Delta North, Delta South and Delta Central senatorial districts are united in one accord to vote PDP and Oborevwori for Governor on Saturday March 18, as well as all House of Assembly candidates of the party.
The Delta PDP Campaign Spokesperson further stated that Senator Agege allegedly diverted N80 billion meant for the rehabilitation of federal roads in Delta State which has become death traps, he unscrupulously held back a substantial part of monies meant for crude oil pipeline surveillance and other shady deals, with which be recently acquired a private jet valued at $950 million. The question is; why private jet at a time majority of Nigerians are bedeviled by abject poverty, joblessness and insecurity occasioned by APC bad governance?
Oghenesivbe averred that Senator Agege, the notorious mace runner was alleged to be the Senate caucus brain box that lobbied consistently for Senate to approve Mr President’s requests for series of frivolous loans amounting to a whopping N77 trillion obtained by APC national government, which financial experts say cannot be liquidated 50 years from now.
He posited that Senator Agege lack moral justification to criticize Okowa administration over reasonable and legally justified loans tied to ongoing visible projects, claiming that Delta state is solvent and in good financial state and shall remain so till the terminal date of Okowa administration and beyond.
Dr Latimore, who is a Fellow of the Civilian Institute of Democratic Administration, F.CID, said in advanced democracies like the United States of America and the United Kingdom, the likes of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who orchestrated the stealing of Mace in broad day light in the hallowed chamber of the Senate, for which he was suspended for 180 days, ought not to be cleared by his APC party and security agencies to run for the office of Governor.
He assured that Deltans will vote PDP and Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, on March 18, for the fact that he’s far ahead of Senator Agege in popularity, competence, experience, humility, positive character and integrity ratings, noting that Oborevwori is a charismatic leader who will listen more, do more and achieve more for the state and citizens, as encapsulated in his; Meaning Development, Opportunity for all Deltans, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security agenda, when he assume office as governor on May 29, this year.
“PDP and Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori are far ahead of APC and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, in terms of preparations and landslide victory in next Saturday, 18th March, governorship elections in the state.
“Oborevwori is a super brand that cannot be compared to the rejected and unpopular government candidate of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC. Victory is sure for PDP and Oborevwori-Onyeme on March 18,” Oghenesivbe assured.
On the newly commissioned Press Centre inside the new Government House, Oghenesivbe who is the Executive Assistant on Communications to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, said his boss has yet again proved that he’s a media friendly governor, noting that Okowa worked so hard for the comfort and welfare of Journalists covering government house and the state in general.
He disclosed that the ultra modern edifice stands out as a world class press centre, well equipped with modern HITECH facilities that ensures speedy processing of stories and articles for publication and broadcast in real time.
Oghenesivbe appealed to all eligible voters with PVCs in Delta State, to vote PDP and Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for Governor and all House of Assembly candidates on Saturday March 18.
