ABOH/Nigeria: The victims of the brutal beating from the Soldiers attached to Sterling Global, an oil servicing company in Beneku, Ndokwa East Local Government area of Delta state has been lamenting their ordeals.
The victims who were incarcerated since Tuesday, October 5, 2017 got their freedom after the Deputy Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Friday Osanebi emissary had secured their released.
Narrating their ordeals to Ndokwa Reporters, the victims who identified one Captain Robert as the leader of the soldiers said that they were made to carryout inhuman activities such as crawling with their heads, while they were there.
The victims said that they are not regretting their action to demonstrate, as they were only demanding for their right to work. They said that trouble started when Captain Robert, who was not around when they got to the company came back to the base, and tried to interrupt one of the demonstrators from speaking, which he resisted and the captain raised his hand and slapped him. This angered the people, who felt they have right to express their demands.
One of the victim, a pregnant woman narrated how they were brutally beating and later arrested and taking to the 19 Battalion of the Nigeria Army, Agbarho-Otor, in Ughelli North Local Government Area, the official base of the battalion, where they were kept till their freedom on Friday afternoon.
According to the woman (Name Withheld), the beating made her to lose her pregnancy of three months. The woman came back with blood of the miscarriage all over her, before she was taking to the hospital after arriving Beneku this afternoon.
Apart from her, while some others are presently on admission, others are at home nursing their wounds, among them two men whom their limps were broken.
Earlier Ndokwa Reporters had made attempt to speak with the Deputy Speaker on the incident, but it was not successful, even the message sent was not replied. The state police command could not speak or reply the message sent to the Public Relation Officer, Mr Andrew Nwaka.
However, the people of the community are pointing an accusing finger on unidentified person from the community for teaming up with the management of the company and the security men to beat them up. But they had vowed to continue their demand for justice, as many of their sons are out of school without work, but people from other lands are daily engaged to work.
