OKPANAM/Nigeria: The need for youths, especially women to embrace skills of their choice and realise their potentials in life so as to add value to their lives and the society in general has been stressed.
The CEO / Proprietress of Jose Kem’s Trend Skill Acquisition Centre, Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Franca Nkem Nwankwo, stated this in Okpanam during the Catering and Culinary exhibition and presentation ceremony.
Hon. Nwankwo, who said that the centre was in collaboration with the 2021 set of Women Empowerment Skill Acquisition Programme (WESAP), stated that though the exhibition was specifically for catering and culinary, the centre leveraged on the event to display other areas that the people were trained.
She commended the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Mrs. Flora Alanta, for the effective partnership with the Jose Kem’s Trend Skill Acquisition Centre, even as she advised them to maximise the opportunity for their own good.
Earlier in an interview with journalists, the Omu of Ugbolu community, Esther Nwaezeakpalebe lauded the CEO of the centre for the initiative and called on women to be involved in activities that would always promote the women folks just as she appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to carry the Omus in the scheme of things.
In an interview with newsmen, a frontline chief in the community, Ogbueshi Augustine Nwaedozie, popularly known as Ogbueshi Omonenwanta 1 of Okpanam kingdom described Hon. Nwankwo as a worthy daughter of the community and advised the graduants to be committed at all times in order to contribute meaningfully to their lives and the community at large.
In her remarks, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Mrs. Flora Alanta, who was represented by an Assistant Chief Welfare Officer in the ministry, Mrs. Rose Okpunor, reiterated Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa administration’s commitment towards empowering the women in the state through various programmes.
