World Bank Commends Delta State Government for Exemplary Partnership in Programme Delivery

ASABA/Nigeria: In a remarkable display of collaboration, the Delta State Government has received commendation from the World Bank for its outstanding partnership in program delivery. The accolades came during a courtesy visit by the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Program delegation, led by Professor Foluso Okumadewa, the Bank’s NG-CARES Task Leader. The delegation paid a visit to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at the Government House in Asaba.

Professor Foluso Okumadewa extended his congratulations to Governor Oborevwori and his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, on their successful inauguration. He expressed his admiration for the state’s commitment to supporting the needs of the poor and vulnerable who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of the delegation’s visit was to conduct an independent verification assessment to better understand and address the impact of the crisis in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the World Bank, Professor Okumadewa conveyed the organization’s appreciation for the partnership with Delta State, particularly regarding the ongoing program. He highlighted Delta State as one of the top-performing states in the bank’s portfolio and emphasized the positive reports received from the team involved in the program.
