World Sight Day: Foundation to Carryout 40 Free Cataract Treatment

WARRI/Nigeria: Ahead of the world Sight Day celebration to hold across the Globe on October 8, Nigerians have been cautioned to make eye checkups a regular routine.

Dr. Mejuwa Okorodudu of the Africa Cataract and eye foundation, who made the call while speaking on the world sight day also announced a total of 40 free Cataract to be done by his organisation across Delta and Edo States.

He said the gesture is part of his corporate social responsibility towards achieving his resolve to contribute his quota towards making sure avoidable blindness is attainable beginning with his immediate locality of Warri in Delta State and Benin in Edo state.

The Opthalmologist enjoined members of the public to take advantage of the 40 Free Cataract Surgeries to hold in Warri Delta State and Benin Edo State.

He added that for Benin in Edo State the Free 20 Cataract Surgeries will hold 8 – 9th october, 10:00am to 4:00 Pm daily at No 4 Willy Oshodin Street, GRA Benin City.

In Warri beneficiaries will also have access to 20 Cataract Surgeries at the venue of surgery, which he said is

Africa Cataract Vision Centre, Agbowu Medical Centre, Ekurede-Itsekiri Warri, 15th to 17th of October, 10am to 4pm Daily.

It will be recalled that World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment. This year, World Sight Day will take place on 8 October 2020 with the theme: Hope in Sight.
