WARRI/Nigeria: Warri, Uvwie, and Environs Special Area Development Agency (WUEDA) took a significant step toward revitalizing the region as its Director General, Hon. Godwin Ejinyere, led a delegation of agency officials on a proactive outreach mission to various local media outlets. On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, the WUEDA team visited Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) Warri, Mega FM Warri, Crown FM, and Kpoko FM in Effurun.
The heads of each media establishment warmly welcomed the WUEDA delegation and pledged their full support in promoting the initiatives and projects of the Delta State Government, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevbori.
In discussions with Pastor Malcolm Oteri, General Manager of DBS Warri, Dew Jemima Wilson, Mega FM’s counterpart, and Mr. Chimobi Nzerumobi, Head of News and Current Affairs at Crown and Kpoko FMs, Prince Ejinyere emphasized WUEDA’s commitment to rejuvenating Warri and its environs, transforming the region into a modern city.
Prince Ejinyere highlighted the environmental challenges that currently plague the area, which include illegal structures, indiscriminate disposal of waste in public areas, drainage channel blockages, unauthorized road excavations, street vending, and the harassment of citizens in the name of revenue collection by certain task force personnel.
The WUEDA Director General proposed a symbiotic marketing plan between the agency and local media outlets to broadcast promotional jingles and news about the agency. He also requested that agency officials be invited as guests on radio programs to discuss topics relevant to WUEDA’s mandate.
Prince Ejinyere made it clear that business as usual was not an option, as stringent measures would be implemented to restore Warri and its environs to their former glory. He stressed the critical importance of a clean environment for development and stated that the agency’s goal was to create a clean and attractive environment that would entice investors to the area. He affirmed, “We are going to work as an interventionist Agency that will uphold the MORE agenda of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.”
In response, the heads of the visited media stations expressed their commitment to assisting WUEDA in enlightening the public about the agency’s vision and mission through their news and environmental programs. They commended Hon. Ejinyere for being the first Director General of WUEDA to engage with their stations and seek collaboration on such a vital mission.
