Agbor: Death has been described as a price that must be paid irrespective of position or status in life.
The Parish Priest of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Alisimie, Rev. Fr Augustine Abude stated this at All Saints Catholic Church, Alihame, during the funeral mass celebration for late Pa. Pius Ndidi Ojeme (JP) the OKpara-Uku of Alihame Inwa community in Agbor Kingdom.
Rev. Fr. Abude said that the acceptable time for one to get prepared for death was now, saying it was by living a life that was pleasing to God.
He stated that tomorrow might be too late as there was no repentance in the grave and urged believers to continue to pray to God to provide the grace needed to prepare for deaths.
He posited that the criteria for entering the kingdom of God included being born again through baptism by water and the Holy Spirit as well as eat the flesh and drink the body of Jesus Christ which according to him depicted the sacrament of the Eucharist.
While noting that God called Pa. Pius Ndidi Ojemeh at the ripe age of 86 years, he observed that it might be anybody’s turn tomorrow.
He prayed that God will have mercy on his soul and grant him eternal rest in Heaven saying it was the hope of everyone who put trust in God.
Until his death, Pa. Pius Ojemeh who was conferred with Justice of Peace by Delta State in 2012, was the oldest man in Alihame Inwan and therefore was crowned with the title of Okpara-Uku from where he coordinated his community administratively.
A retired Police Officer, he was appointed Chief security officer of the College of Education, Agbor during which the institution was said to have experience peace and security.
