WARRI/Nigeria: Two young men have shown that Nigerian youths are not lazy or idle and that hawking as food vendors is not an exclusive practice of the womenfolk.
The youths, Emmanuel Odiashe and Obienku Obiero, dressed in apron were seen hawking banger rice in a wheel barrow with pride in some major streets in Warri at the weekend.
One of them Obienku Obiero who hails from Evwreni in Ughelli North Local Government Area told our reporter that they were into the banger rice hawking business to earn a living and to also save fund for purchasing equipment for their mechanic trade.
Obiero who disclosed that their customers were mostly females, stated that some people often remark that hawking of food was the exclusive practice of the womenfolk.
“I disagree with them. What we are doing now is better than being idle or indulging in vices. And we also do it better than most female banger rice sellers”, he stated.
True to the assertion of Obiero, two female customers seen eating the banger rice affirmed in a chat with our reporter that the banger rice was delicious.
Others who spoke to our reporter commended the courage of the young men urging idle youths to borrow a leaf from them.
