AGBOR/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education has advised Youths in the state to shun acts capable of destroying their future.
Mr Ebie gave the advice at the Igbodo Youth Development Summit organised by the Igbodo Development Union for secondary school students in Ika North East Local Government Area, which held at Igbodo Comprehensive High School Igbodo.
The Commissioner said that the importance of education could not be over-emphasised as it played a very crucial role for one to come out from the shackles of poverty, while urging the students to be committed to their studies at all times as it was one sure way to become successful in life.
Mr Ebie, said that the Delta State Government would continue to ensure that the standard of basic and secondary education in the state was not compromised, saying that Delta State Executive Council recently approved the establishment of a Teachers Development Center for the training and retraining of teachers in the state to keep them abreast with modern teaching techniques.
The Commissioner thanked the Igbodo Development Union for deeming it fit to organise the youth summit, while calling on other development unions in the various communities to emulate Igbodo Development Union for its efforts in training youths in the community
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the President General of Igbodo Development Union Mr Matthew Okwaje said that the youth development summit was conceived by the development union to help indigent youths in the communities to believe in themselves no matter the situation they were faced with and to also boost their confidence.
He urged the participants to take advantage of the summit, while promising that the development union would continue to initiate people oriented programmes that would positively affect the lives of the Igbodo people
