ASABA/Nigeria: The Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Delta State Chapter, Comrade Kenneth Okorie has called on Youths in the state to imbibe the spirit of patriotism during this Yuletide as the Christmas and new year celebrations draw close.
Comrade Okorie who disclosed this to some group of Journalists in Asaba, Delta State capital, stated that Youths should be patriotic, and avoid act capable of endangering their lives.
In his words: “The season should not be a time to embark on unwarranted journeys, neither should it be a time to join bad gangs for armed robbery, ritual killings and unpatriotic acts in the quest for quick wealth. It should be a time to draw closer to God so as to help the Youths plan for the year 2020”.
“Delta youths have reasons to thank God in the outgoing year judging from the fact that a lot of them were enlisted in the skills acquisition programs of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, also they were empowered. While others had opportunity to be appointed into key positions in the state”.
Comrade Okorie also thanked Senator Okowa for sponsoring youths in NYCN to Ghana for an exchange programme that afforded them opportunity to market the economic potentials of Delta, noting that the peaceful nature of the state, its tourism and infrastructural development since 2015 till date will attract local and international investors to the state.
He then tasked youths in the State to start planning on how they could harness from the lofty programmes of government in year 2020 emphasizing that he would ensure that, more of them will be considered and enlisted into the State Governments’ job and wealth creation drive and opportunities.
He said that he will champion well tailored projects to re-orientate youths on the need for them to uphold positive mindset to enable them achieve their cardinal goals in life.
While wishing Delta Youths the best in this month of December, Comrade Okorie pledged to continue to be in the vanguard of things that will positively bring a new dawn to the lives of Delta youths.
