Asaba: The Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has reiterated its resolve to sanction erring school Heads, Teachers and other non-teaching staff in the Public Primary and Secondary Schools that flout government directive on zero tolerance on illegal collection of levies under any guise.
A statement signed by the State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary School, Mr. Chiedu Ebie indicated that there are report that some school Heads and Teachers have devised various means to exploit school children even as many have become suppliers of school uniforms, textbooks and other materials and compelling unsuspecting school children, parents and guardians to buy same from them.
The statement further stated that such unprofessional conduct will not be allowed to continue and therefore warned those engaged in the despicable act to desist forthwith as the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against anyone engaged in the act of illegal collection of levies.
Accordingly, parents and guardians are urged not to succumb to intimidation from any quarter but to report any form of illegal levies and where in doubt seek clarification from the Ministry.
