Deployment of Security Personals to Ugborodo is to Checkmate Hoodlums
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr Muhammad Mustafa in a statement has said that the deployment of security operatives in Ugbokodo and environ of Warri South Local Government Area is not to intimidate the people of the area, but to check the activities of criminal elements, who had invaded the area.
He warned hoodlums, notably bunkerers, kidnappers, rapists, burglars and murderers and their ilk to steer clear of Aruton, Ode-Ugborodo and other neighbouring communities and the state as a whole or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law.
He enjoined indigenes and residents of Aruton, Ode-Ugborodo and other neighbouring communities in Warri South council not to panic over the deployment of security operatives to the areas.
The statement which was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Andrew Aniamaka noted that “The deployment of security operatives in the areas is a joint operation by the Police, the Military, and Department of State Security, DSS, among others to rid the areas of hoodlums who use them as bases for various nefarious activities which include militancy, illegal oil bunkering and oil pipeline vandalism.”
Noting that the statement was in response to intelligence report that youths in the areas were planning to protest the presence of security operatives and gunboats in their communities, he urged the youths, citizens and residents of the communities to be law abiding and not to panic over the security operation.
Meanwhile, while the people of Ugborodo have insisted that they have never been under the Lordship of the Olu of Warri Kingdom, adding that there was no time they were part of Olu Kingdom, they have asked President Mohammadu Buhari to hold an APC Chieftain, and Ologbosere of Warri kingdom, Chief Amani Ayiri responsible for the security crises in the community.
