Conference of the Unemployed Graduates to Hold in Asaba on July 21, 2015

The Nigerian National Union of Unemployed Graduates (NNUG), Delta State chapter has planned a one day conference to be held in Asaba, the Delta state capital on Tuesday, 21 July, 2015.
In a communique released on Saturday, 17 July, 2015, the body through the spokesman, Comde Ben Otuya, said the conference which will be free for all Unemployed graduates with the National Certificate of Education, (NCE), Ordinary National Diploma, (OND), the Higher National Diploma, (HND), and Degree Certificates of Delta state origin, will be officially opened by the Executive Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who will be the Special Guest of Honour.
According to the organisers, the conference which will hold at the Express Hope Christian Centre, Benin Express road, opposite Asaba Aluminium, Asaba by 11 am will be the first organised conference of the unemployed graduates in the state, and it is aimed at galvanising the unemployed graduates to properly key into the various programs of empowerment/employment of the Okowa administration, because these groups of people form the highest number of the youths population, and for a long time had been neglected, and “ With such conferences the members will be informed of the need to remain law abiding, as an informed mind after many years of being unemployed can become restive but need to be informed of the need to continue to leave a peaceful life”. They said.
The statement stated that the highlight of the occasion will be a the Investiture of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as a “Friendly governor to the unemployed” lecture with a theme: “Graduates for the building of the Nation” to be delivered by two Eminent Academicians from the Delta State University, Abraka, Professors Anigala A.E and Egonwa O.D.
The NNUG in the statement, also said that the conference will remind the government, that for she to attain the 6000 jobs creation planned, the pool of such workforce should be from the population of the unemployed graduates, as they had already acquired some basic trainings from their various areas of academic learnings.
Other guests expected at the occasion are the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Monday Igbuya,, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Chris Ochonogor, Hon (Dr) Kingsley Emu, commissioner for Economic Planning, and other government functionaries.
