Rain Storm destroys Properties in Ukwuani LGA

The onset of the raining season has hit the people of the Ukwuani LGA with destruction. A recent rain in the area left properties worth millions of naira destroyed.

The rain which fell on the 15 of March, 2014 showed it pangs on places like Obiaruku, the local authourity headquarter, Obinonba, Owa Abbi, Ebedei, Umutu, Umuaja and Akoko.

While in Obiaruku, the effect could be seen in light destruction and placement of properties in their wrong position, at Obi Oluku, parts of Owa Abbi four buildings were destroyed. So also was Ebedei, where roofs of houses were pulled. In many compounds in Ebedei, economic plants like Alvagado plants, Plantains, Mangoes, Orange plants were destroyed.

Along the road to Agbor, a newly constructed filling station, the Ukwuani Oil and Gas roof was partly pulled off. Opposite scores of rubber plants trees where brought down.

Narrating the horrorful situation, Mr Chukwumah Dike, an Okada Rider who took the Ndokwa Reporters round the communities says the rain was brief, but came with destruction. At Umuaja, the effect of the rampaging rain could be seen on the number of buildings brought down and many roofs and economic trees that was affected. In the word of an Umuaja indigene who wishes to remain anonymous, “thank God no life was lost”
