The Guber and State House of Assembly election in Delta state ended in a sad not in Ukwuani LGA as violence was reported in many places.
Reports from our correspondents indicated high level of election malpractices in many of the wards, which caused serious injury, ballot box snatching, and intimidation by the use of the Nigerian security men.
The situation in Ukwuani was terrible as two persons are on admission in an undisclosed hospital. The two victims are Messers David Ochonogor and Victor Chukwuemeke, who were attacked at various wards at Umutu and Ezhionum.
One of the victims, Mr Ochonogor was an APC House of Assembly aspirant who was reportedly beating up by members of the Nigeria Army at Umutu, while Victor Chukwuemeke was beating up at Ezhionum by thugs of the ruling party in the state.
According to our correspondent, Mr Ochonogor was initially confirmed death but was revived at a health centre at Umutu, before he was referred to Obiaruku general hospital, he was beating because he challenged the process of accreditation and voting at the same time, and for daring to confront the illegal practice, he was then beating up by the security agents who were employed by the member representing the LGA at the state House of Assembly.
Our correspondent also reported that the second victim, Mr Victor Chukwuemeke, who is from Ezhionum was attacked by the PDP youths and clubbed for daring to take photographs of the happenings at the poling units were he was working as poling agent for the APC.
Reports reaching us from the entire Ukwuani LGA shows that there was violence In many of the wards during Saturdays election, as places like Obi-Oyeonicha, Amai, Umukwata,Umuaja, Obiaruku witnessed pockets of disturbances.
Meanwhile, report reaching Ndokwa Reporters says that Messers Ochonogor and Chukwuemeke had been moved from the government hospital Obiaruku, to an unknown hospital for their safety.
Also, the source who refused to be named, says that the situation of Mr Victor Chukwuemeke is not too good as he was clubbed at the back of the head, which is close to the spinal cord.
