ABUJA/Nigeria: Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, has lauded the upcoming initiative “Tourism Across the Niger: A Tourism Volunteer’s Journey,” which is set to begin on May 20, 2024. This project aims to explore and document communities with significant tourism potential across Nigeria.
During a courtesy visit from the Tourism Volunteers Network, led by Executive Director Ambassador Phil Roberts, Minister Ade-John expressed her full support for the initiative. She emphasized its importance in positioning Nigeria as a premier tourism destination and praised the network’s dedication and patriotism, highlighting how their efforts align with the President’s mandate for the tourism sector.
“Your work will significantly contribute to our understanding of Nigeria’s tourism potential and help us create more awareness about these hidden gems,” Ade-John remarked. “I look forward to collaborating with you and leveraging your findings to shine a brighter light on Nigeria’s rich cultural and natural heritage.”
The Tourism Volunteers Network, comprising over 700 dedicated youths, is committed to enhancing Nigeria’s tourism investment potential through various tourism and hospitality programs, good governance, and patriotic initiatives. The delegation discussed their ambitious project, which aims not only to boost awareness of these sites but also to gather critical data to assist the Ministry of Tourism in promoting sustainable tourism development.
Ambassador Roberts, expressing gratitude for the minister’s endorsement, stated, “This project is a testament to our commitment to Nigeria’s tourism development. With the minister’s backing, we are more motivated than ever to make a lasting impact.”
