WARRI/Nigeria: The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commended Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his commitment to delivering legacy projects that enhance the state’s infrastructure. The praise came from NIPR Vice President, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, during a tour of significant projects executed under the governor’s administration.
The delegation visited key infrastructure projects, including the Okpanam-Ibusa bypass, the dualisation of the Ughelli-Asaba road, ongoing flyover constructions at Enerhen Junction, PTI Junction, and DSC Roundabout by Julius Berger, as well as the Emevor-Orogun road project.
Speaking at PTI Junction in Effurun, Professor Dandaura, accompanied by NIPR Council members Thelma Okoh and Paulinus Nsirim, expressed gratitude for Governor Oborevwori’s interventions on federal roads within Delta State. “We have driven about 128 kilometres from Asaba, and you can see that the roads are in good condition,” Dandaura noted. “It’s clear that ongoing work is addressing the need for bridges and road relaying where necessary.”
He further highlighted the significance of Oborevwori’s proactive stance on federal roads. “Every right-thinking governor understands that when people drive through a state, they don’t question who owns the road but rather ask if there is a governor who cares for public welfare,” he remarked. “I am pleased to see that Governor Oborevwori is one of those visionary leaders.”
Professor Dandaura, who was led on the tour by Delta State’s Commissioner for Information, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza, also called for sustained collaboration between federal and state governments to facilitate smoother and safer travel across Nigeria. “I believe the framework where states undertake projects with federal reimbursement still exists, and I encourage the Federal Government to continue supporting this synergy. What Delta State is doing, in effect, is stepping in to rescue the federal government’s obligations,” he stated.
Commending the quality of work by contractor Julius Berger, Dandaura noted, “Yes, Julius Berger may come at a high cost, but they are known for durable projects. This commitment to quality is likely why Governor Oborevwori chose them for these key projects. I also encourage them to enhance their corporate social responsibility to foster a positive community relationship.”
Expressing his overall satisfaction, he concluded, “What we have witnessed today shows a patriotic commitment from Delta State, ensuring that Deltans can travel safely and comfortably. We commend Governor Oborevwori for his dedication to Delta’s development.”
