OGHARA/Nigeria: The Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun John Nani, has reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to the timely completion and delivery of projects across its mandate areas.
Nani gave the assurance on Wednesday during an inspection tour of ongoing and completed projects in Jesse and Oghara, both in Ethiope West Local Government Area. He was accompanied by Hon. Julius Egbedi, the member representing Urhobo Ethnic Nationality in Sapele, Okpe, and Ethiope West, alongside other management staff.
The inspected projects included Doge Road, Ovie Agbroko Road with drainage, and Oyibo Road in Jesse, as well as Shalom Road, Baptist Church Road, the ongoing electrification of Omoja Street, and a water project in Oghareki, Oghara.
Speaking to journalists during the tour, Nani assured residents that all ongoing and completed projects would be commissioned in due course. He urged communities to continue supporting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, promising a “harvest of projects” before April.
“We have inspected projects in Jesse and Oghara and are pleased with the level of work done. Most of them are completed. Apart from Hon. Egbedi, other ethnic representatives are also overseeing projects, and in the coming weeks, we will extend inspections to other mandate areas,” he stated.
Hon. Egbedi also expressed satisfaction with the level of work executed across his constituency, noting that community testimonials reflected the impact of the projects.
Residents of the benefiting communities lauded DESOPADEC’s intervention. Mr. Alex Ogheneochuko of Ovie Agbroko Road, Jesse, commended Governor Oborevwori and Nani for not only reconstructing the road but also installing drainage to prevent flooding.
Similarly, Mr. Muyiwa Onofeghara, the youth secretary of Oghara community, said the intervention had greatly improved accessibility, recalling how the road was previously impassable. He appealed for more road projects to enhance mobility in the area.
Mrs. Maria Ogbekele, a resident of Doge Street, Jesse, also praised the rehabilitation efforts, describing how the once-dilapidated road had been transformed for the benefit of commuters.
The inspection exercise is part of DESOPADEC’s broader commitment to infrastructure development in oil-producing communities, ensuring sustainable growth and improved living conditions for residents.
