ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has reaffirmed that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration is delivering fairness, equity, and balanced development across all parts of the state.
Addressing journalists in Asaba, Aniagwu said the Governor’s MORE Agenda is being implemented to benefit all 25 local government areas, 10 federal constituencies, and three senatorial districts, with no community left behind. He noted that in the last two years, Oborevwori has demonstrated fairness in project distribution, urging critics to acknowledge visible progress rather than suggest nothing is being done.
Flanked by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, the Executive Assistant on Public Enlightenment (Projects and Policies), Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, and the Executive Assistant on Media, Mr. Norbert Chiazor, Aniagwu stressed that the administration promised “more” and is delivering “more.” He dismissed recent criticisms from a section of the Isoko Nation as politically motivated or stemming from ignorance of ongoing projects in the area.
He cited the recent approval of the Ogodogo–Ivu Access Road in Okpolo-Enhwe, Isoko South, at ₦5.1 billion, describing it as a strategic route to major oil facilities. Other completed or ongoing projects in Isoko include Otekpo Road in Elu, internal roads in Isoko South, the Uzere–Asaba-Ase Bridge, the Isoko Ring Road, Emede internal roads, the Enuru–Ikuli Access Road, the Uruaka Express Link Road in Emede, the Olomoro–Igbide Road, the Emevor–Orogun Road Phases 1 and 2, and Okpolo-Enhwe Internal Roads Phases 1 and 2, as well as portions of the reconstructed Ughelli–Asaba Expressway passing through Isoko.
Aniagwu highlighted that Isoko remains the only federal constituency in Delta hosting two state-owned universities — Southern Delta University, Ozoro, and the Oleh Campus of Delta State University, which houses the faculties of Law and Engineering. Under Oborevwori, the College of Medical Sciences at Southern Delta University has been completed, the Senate Building and internal roads at the Ozoro campus delivered, the College of Health Technology in Ovrode established, and the General Hospital in Ozoro equipped.
He recalled that within one year in office, the Governor had visited Isoko twice to inaugurate projects, a clear demonstration of commitment to the area. He appealed to political actors to avoid “dirty politics” ahead of the 2027 elections, warning against attempts to discredit the government for political gain.
Aniagwu assured that no local government area in Delta is without the footprint of the current administration across key sectors. He urged residents of Isoko to celebrate projects in other areas as others celebrate Isoko’s gains, reiterating the government’s resolve to remain fair to all.
On the looming flood threat predicted nationwide, the Commissioner disclosed that the state is already desilting drainages and water channels to reduce the impact. He appealed to residents to desist from dumping refuse into drains and advised those in flood-prone areas to relocate upland before the floods arrive.
