UGHELLI/Nigeria: Chief of Staff to the Senator representing Delta Central, Olorogun Barr. Adelabu Bodjor, has commended Distinguished Senator Ede Dafinone for what he described as an outstanding performance in office, insisting that the lawmaker deserves a second term.
Bodjor, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central, gave the endorsement on Sunday at his country home in Ekakpamre, Ughelli South Local Government Area, while receiving members of a newly formed political pressure group, the Ughelli South Political Colonels (USPC).
He told journalists after the meeting that Senator Dafinone had redefined political representation in Delta Central by shifting the focus from token handouts to human capital development. According to him, the senator’s philosophy of “teaching people how to fish” was already yielding results across Urhoboland.
“The man started the job and he has not even gone halfway,” Bodjor said. “He has improved the political lives of Delta Central, and it is only reasonable, fair, and proper that we give him more opportunity to build on the wonderful foundation he has laid. Our senator is coming back, and I am very sure the people will vote overwhelmingly for him.”
Bodjor stressed that Dafinone’s style of empowerment goes beyond distributing handouts, noting that his emphasis on skills and self-reliance has the potential to transform the Delta Central economy into “an El Dorado.”
Earlier, chairman of the USPC, Olorogun John Ewenede, said the group was formed to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori ahead of the 2027 general elections. He described Bodjor as “a big fish in the party” and urged him to rally other leaders of Ughelli South to speak with one voice in the interest of the APC.
“The main purpose of forming this political pressure group is to galvanise and mobilise the grassroots for our President and our Governor,” Ewenede said. “We are also working on massive voter registration because it is the voters’ strength that will give us power.”
In his response, Bodjor expressed gratitude for the fusion of the APC and elements of the defunct PDP in Delta, which he described as providential and bloodless. He charged the group to broaden its mobilisation efforts beyond Tinubu and Oborevwori to include all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
“I want you to expand your coast,” Bodjor urged. “When you talk about our President and our Governor, it should also include every other APC candidate. Everybody should speak with one voice in Ughelli South so that we can get whatever we want.”
The meeting drew members of the USPC from across the 11 wards in Ughelli South Local Government Area, with Bodjor pledging to support the group whenever called upon.
