LAGOS/Nigeria: A Christian-based organisation, Xtreme Search Reality TV Show, a subsidiary of Psalmist Missionary Global Outreach, has called for an end to nude reality television shows in Nigeria, describing them as a growing threat to the nation’s moral fabric and the future of its youth.

Evangelist Chuka Abuoma, President of the organisation, told journalists in Lagos on Monday that the group has embarked on an intensive campaign to sensitise Nigerians about the dangers of such programmes. He stressed that protecting the nation’s values was vital to securing a safer and healthier society.

“A growing campaign against nude reality TV shows highlights the potential threat these programmes pose to the country’s economic, political, educational, and health sectors,” Abuoma said. “Exposing Nigerian youths to explicit content can lead to the defilement of our moral conscience, degradation of self-esteem, weakening of will against immoral acts, sexual harassment, exploitation, and moral decadence.”

He urged media regulatory agencies to enforce stricter content guidelines, and advised producers to prioritise responsible programming that uplifts rather than corrupts society. “Viewers too must demand better entertainment options,” he added.

The campaign, which has already been staged at the National Stadium, Winners’ Chapel headquarters in Ota, Badagry Beach, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, City of Light Worship Centre in Ikotun, and at Ikotun Market, is facing challenges of funding and wider support. Abuoma appealed to individuals, organisations, and churches to amplify the message, noting that financial support would enable the group to reach policymakers and industry stakeholders while promoting positive entertainment alternatives.

“We call on all Nigerians to join this movement to protect our moral conscience and ensure a brighter future for our youths,” he said.
