LAGOS/Nigeria: The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Environment has expressed satisfaction with the Lagos Water Corporation’s (LWC) Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative, pledging continued legislative support to strengthen transparency and improve potable water supply across the state.
The Committee, led by Chairman Hon. Adebola Shabi, paid an oversight visit to the Corporation’s headquarters on Monday to assess progress made under the PPP arrangement. Shabi said the visit was part of the Assembly’s constitutional duty to ensure accountability, transparency, and public participation in government programmes.
“The people have given us their mandate, and it is our responsibility to ensure they are properly informed and considered in every government initiative, especially in the PPP process,” Shabi stated.
Responding, the Managing Director of LWC, Engr. Mukhtaar Tijani, thanked the lawmakers for their consistent support and reaffirmed the Corporation’s commitment to transparency, service delivery, and sustainable access to clean water for all Lagos residents.

Committee members, including Hon. Stephen Ogundipe and Hon. Sobur Oluwa, commended the LWC’s recent strides but urged the agency to intensify public enlightenment and ensure equitable water distribution across all communities.
Hon. Oluwa described the PPP initiative as “a turning point in Lagos’ water management system,” stressing the importance of inclusivity and stakeholder engagement for successful implementation.
